Purchased this printer new from Costco in Jan 2007 for a home office. Afer about 3 months prints began to come out smeared. Called technical support 2 times they could not fix the problem. For some reason it stated to work (cleaned the print heads 10x). About a month later it started again, at that point I called Tech Support they offered to replace the printer, but told me it would take two weeks. They offered that if I paid $75 for an extended 3 year warranty I would get it in 3 days. I ......

Have had this unit for 2 years. Like amy others the automatic document feeder has broken and techsupport is no help. The copies and faxes all come out slightly out of focus. As a networkable printer it is fine, but if you want a decent fax machine, don't get this unit.

This is the perhaps the worst printer HP has ever made. I bought this less than a year ago and it only worked ok after getting about 40 pages of print outs during the first 3 weeks. Thereafter problems started. The worst has been paper jams, on top of its eating up so much ink.
I have had 4 HP printers and they all have proven to be VERY VERY bad (mainly paper jams, and print quality not to mention again their usage of so much ink). This though is the worst of them all.
And mind you t......

Don't buy if you plan on scanning documents. The (ADF) automatic document feeder failed after scanning less than 25 sheets. Tried cleaning rollers etc. contacted tech support no help, no repair documentation available and customers unable to buy spare parts. Poor design, cheaply made. The rest of printer ok. Would not buy again.
If you buy get insurance as you will need to get a replacement if it fails like mine did.

We have replaced this printer 2 times. We have had feeder problems, fax problems, scanning problems and now - the straw that broke the camels back - we are just chalking up the loss of $400+ is a printer head problem. It is a LEMON! We are hoping that the LaserJet series is better. We have ordered the CM1312NFI.
